"Holiday Gift" by Shi Heng Zhan

Happy Holidays! Thanks to "Shi Heng Zhan" for passing this along. The gift inside is whatever you want it to be.

We'll resume posting layouts in 2009. Also see here for a bit of news.

"Xmas Tree" by Wizzpig

I like this one. For a small layout, it's challenging.

"Church" by Emenia

Warning: This layout is not solvable, because it has free tiles that are hidden inside the structure. Just appreciate it as architecture, don't try to solve it.

"Impressive Architecture Friday" (actually Sunday) resumes with this one. I had a brief debate with myself on whether to allow religious symbols in posted layouts, and decided to allow it, with some misgivings about straying into a potential hot-button topic. I'm trying to be impartial here, for the moment: if somebody out there has an impressive "Vishnu" layout, or even a "Festivus Pole," go ahead and submit it. Try to stay within the bounds of common sense, of course.

"Parthenon" by Midnight Martian

In honor of 1.2 finally being released, here's "Parthenon," which of course is very loosely based on the Parthenon. I made this layout for testing purposes before Moonlight Mahjong was even released, but never put it out there because it was just too big. With 1.2's performance improvements, though, it should work well enough now.

Moonlight Mahjong 1.2 Is Here

Read about it, then go get it. You'll be able to play large layouts much better. Beware Robo-Player.

One new feature is the ability to use backgrounds from your photo library. Here's a random example:

1.2 also has a several new layouts that I didn't get around to posting here, including Planter, Twin Peaks, and Power Pyramid 2... I think. There are so many layouts now, it's getting a little hard to keep track.

A new, possibly more elegant variation on "Castle."

"Advancing Waves" by Midnight Martian

I actually thought this one was going to be easy to solve, since it's possible to see which tiles are where. It does not seem very easy so far.

Have a slice of cake courtesy of Sorako-chan. Or is this just "pie in the sky"?
