Moonlight Mahjong 1.4

Moonlight Mahjong version 1.4 is now available. This update sees the addition of sound effects, and the tileset and background menus have been improved. It also has a few new layouts that haven't appeared on the web: Office Building, Office Tower, Pyramid of Mars (regular 144-tile version), Mini Temple, and Pound Sign. "Office Building" is probably my favorite of this batch. Since that's several new layouts for the weekend, I'll take a break from posting until Monday.

Thank You!

Thank you for the five-star ratings! We're showing up at 4.5 stars now, which is better than I was even hoping for. You people are, by far, the best software users ever. I rate you five stars.

Monday: more new layouts.

A Little Help Please?

Hi all - I need to interrupt the flow of layouts with a request for a little help. The problem is that the App Store's user review system does not, in fact, work that well. Since the 1.3.1 update, Moonlight Mahjong's visible star rating has gone down to three stars, because one way they calculate it is by ratings for the current version only - and version 1.3.1 only has a handful of reviews at this point. This apparent three-star rating is completely wrong, in my humble opinion, but it appears to be negatively impacting our sales. If that happens, it means it'll be harder for me to keep on coming out with nice updates - like the new free-tile highlighting, which seems to be have been well-received. So if you've bought Moonlight Mahjong and love it, but haven't reviewed it in the past, now would be a really good time for you to give the app a star rating and a few favorable words. You can do that by following this link to Moonlight Mahjong on the App Store.

Moon Globe FREE in November

I'm making our 3D Moon app "Moon Globe" free for the month of November (and, if we continue getting excellent reviews, beyond November). You can find it on the iTunes App Store.

Tomorrow: More new layouts.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! Over on the Facebook page, I have reposted links to three spooky layouts from last year, along with updated screenshots: "Long Ghost" and "Nervous Pumpkin" by the inimitable Sorako-chan, and the very scary "Tarantula" by Dcw.

Moonlight Mahjong on Facebook

I've created a Facebook page for Moonlight Mahjong, and I'll be cross-posting new layouts over there. If you're on Facebook, becoming a fan may be an easier way to follow the new layouts, as well as any Moonlight Mahjong news. I may be re-posting some older layouts over there, as well (I'll make sure to note when they were originally posted). This is kind of an experiment, so any feedback is appreciated.

Moon Globe

Midnight Martian's latest app Moon Globe is now live on the App Store. Today we've just managed to make it onto the Top 100 list of Educational Apps at number 97, and we'd like to stay there or better yet move up in that list, so now is a really good time to go get it. At an introductory price of US $0.99 for an app that's worth much more, you can't really go wrong.

Pictured left is a Moon Globe view including Cabeus Crater, where LCROSS will do it's high-speed crash into the surface early tomorrow morning!

Quick Update

Moonlight Mahjong 1.3 has been submitted, so please send positive thoughts in Apple's direction for its swift approval. It has scores and stats, some nice graphics improvements, and some new layouts that haven't appeared here yet, amongst other things.

I'm going to start updating the MidnightMartian Twitter feed more, so follow it if you like. And in case you missed it, Tweetie is a nice iPhone app for using Twitter.

Moonlight Mahjong 1.2 Is Here

Read about it, then go get it. You'll be able to play large layouts much better. Beware Robo-Player.

One new feature is the ability to use backgrounds from your photo library. Here's a random example:

1.2 also has a several new layouts that I didn't get around to posting here, including Planter, Twin Peaks, and Power Pyramid 2... I think. There are so many layouts now, it's getting a little hard to keep track.

Slowing Down

Going back to posting one new layout a day, unless they start flooding in again.
